Cash
Accept cash for pickup and delivery orders — turn it on, collect on handover, and reconcile it in Reports alongside your online payment methods.
Cash lets guests pay in person when they collect a pickup order or receive a delivery, instead of paying online at checkout. It is the simplest method you can offer: there is no payment provider to connect and no onboarding to complete. Cash also runs alongside your online methods, so a guest chooses whatever suits them — card, wallet, PayPal, or cash — in the same checkout.
Where to find it: Payments → the Cash card
When to offer cash
Most restaurants that do their own pickup or short-radius delivery keep cash switched on. It removes a barrier for guests who prefer not to pay online, and it costs you nothing per order because there is no processor in the middle. The one thing to remember is when the money arrives: with cash, the guest pays your team at the moment of handover, not the moment they place the order.
Turn on cash payments
Cash does not require an online payment account or provider onboarding, so there is no pending or verification step — the moment the status reads Active, guests can select it.
What happens at checkout
When a guest picks cash, the order arrives in your dashboard and on your devices exactly like any other order. The difference is the payment state: the order is marked as cash and is settled when your team collects the money on handover, rather than being charged online in advance. You prepare the order as usual, and the guest pays the driver at the door or your counter staff at pickup.
Collecting and reconciling cash
Because the guest pays in person, a cash order is only truly paid once your team has the money in hand. Collect it at handover, confirm the order, and at the end of service count the till against the cash orders you fulfilled. Cash is reported alongside your online payments, so your daily totals and your payment-method breakdown stay complete.
See cash in your reports
Every cash order flows into Reports next to your card and wallet payments. Use the payment-method breakdown to check that the cash you counted matches the cash orders you fulfilled, and to see how much of your revenue comes in through each method over a day, a week, or a month.
Turn off cash payments
Turn off Accept cash payments on the Cash card whenever you want to stop taking cash — for example if a location goes card-only. Cash is then removed from checkout while your online methods remain available. Guests who are mid-checkout simply no longer see cash as an option; nothing else changes.
Refunding a cash order
Because no online charge was ever made, refunding a cash order is a physical hand-back rather than a reversal through a processor. Record the refund on the order so your reports and till stay aligned, then return the cash to the guest. Keep the refund note clear enough that whoever counts the till at the end of the shift can reconcile it.
