Order Status and Fulfillment
Each order moves through a series of steps from when it's placed until it's complete. You control when to move an order to the next step.
Each order moves through a defined status flow from arrival to completion. The available actions depend on whether the order is for takeaway or delivery.
Where to find it: Click any order on the Orders page to open the order detail.
Order Statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| New | New order, awaiting acceptance |
| Accepted | You have accepted the order and can prepare it |
| Ready | Order is ready for pickup or delivery |
| Out for Delivery | Delivery has left the restaurant |
| Completed | Order has been fulfilled |
| Canceled | Order was canceled |
Typical Flow
- New → Customer places an order
- Accepted → You confirm that the restaurant can fulfill it
- Ready → A takeaway order is ready for pickup
- Out for Delivery → A delivery order has left the restaurant
- Completed → The guest has received the order or the handoff is finished
Updating Status
Click an order to open the detail view. Use the action buttons to update the status. There is no separate Preparing status in the dashboard.
Some status changes may require extra info:
- New — Choose an estimated ready time for ASAP orders before selecting Accept Order
- Canceled — Provide a cancellation reason (see Refunds and Cancellations)
Delivery vs Takeaway
- Delivery — You deliver to the customer's address
- Takeaway — Customer picks up at your location
The order detail shows the fulfillment method and any delivery address or pickup instructions.
Order Settings in Store control preparation times, order types, advance ordering, and capacity. Scheduled orders use their scheduled time; ASAP orders use the ready time selected during acceptance. Canceled orders remain in the list for reporting and reconciliation.
Tips
- Move orders through the actions for their fulfillment method: takeaway uses Ready, while delivery uses Out for Delivery.
- Extend the ready time while an accepted order is still being prepared if the kitchen needs more time.
- If you must cancel, always add a cancellation reason — it helps the team understand what happened.
