How to Create Modifiers
Create modifier groups and options for sizes, add-ons, instructions, and other product choices in Menuella.
Modifiers let guests customize products. A modifier group contains the choices guests see, such as sizes, extras, or instructions.
Create a modifier group
- Open Menu → Modifiers.
- Select Create Group or Add modifier group.
- Enter the group name, such as Size, Extras, or Special instructions.
- Choose the modifier type: Variant, Addon, or Instruction.
- Choose Pricing Role when the group represents product sizes; otherwise leave it as None.
- Set Required, Min selection, and Max selection when needed.
- Save the group.
Add modifier options
- Select the modifier group.
- In the options panel, select Add items or Create item.
- Add an option title and price. Use zero for a free option.
- Add an optional description or image.
- Save the option.
- Drag options to set the order guests see.
Options can be created as modifier items or selected from the product list. When an existing product is used as an option, you can keep its standard option price or set a different price for the group or product where it is used.
Use a clear option name and price so guests understand the choice before adding it to their order.
Modifier types
| Type | Use for | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Variant | Sizes or required choices | Small, Medium, Large |
| Addon | Optional extras | Extra cheese, extra sauce |
| Instruction | Special requests or choices without a price | No onions, well done |
Selection settings
- Required asks guests to make a choice before they continue.
- Min selection sets the smallest number of options a guest must choose.
- Max selection limits how many options a guest can choose.
- For a single-choice group, set the minimum and maximum to one.
