Menuella for ChatGPT
Connect Menuella to ChatGPT to manage your menu, check orders and sales, and edit your website in a conversation.
Menuella for ChatGPT connects your restaurant to ChatGPT. Once connected, you can ask ChatGPT to show your menu, rewrite dish descriptions, change prices, declare allergens, check today's orders, compare your locations, or update a page on your website. When you ask to see your orders, ChatGPT can show them as cards right in the conversation.
ChatGPT works with the same data you see in the Dashboard and only does what your Menuella account is allowed to do.
Connect ChatGPT
Menuella is currently in review for ChatGPT's plugins. Until it is approved it will not appear there; this page will be updated when it does.
- In ChatGPT, open Settings → Plugins and select Menuella.
- Click Connect.
- Sign in with your Menuella account — the same email and password you use for the Dashboard.
- Review the permissions on the consent screen and click Allow.
To use it, type @Menuella in a chat, or select + and choose Menuella, then describe what you want — for example "@Menuella show me my menu."
If your account manages more than one restaurant, ChatGPT asks which one you mean before it reads or changes anything.
What ChatGPT can do
| Area | What ChatGPT can do |
|---|---|
| Menu | Show products, categories, and option groups; add products; change titles, descriptions, and prices; show or hide a product for all locations or one location; move products between categories; reorder products and categories; edit categories and option groups |
| Allergens and additives | Show and set allergens, additives, dietary labels (such as vegan or halal), and spiciness — for one dish or many at once |
| Orders | Show recent orders and the details of one order (read-only) |
| Sales | Summarize orders, sales, and average order value for a period, and compare your locations |
| Locations | Show your locations, opening hours, and order settings (read-only) |
| Website | Show pages and blocks, create custom pages, edit blocks, publish your website, and delete custom pages or blocks |
What ChatGPT cannot do
- Change an order's status, cancel or refund an order, or contact your guests.
- Take payments or change payment settings.
- Delete products or categories — it can hide them instead.
- Delete the standard pages of your website.
- Manage staff, accounts, or billing.
Before you ask ChatGPT to change something
- Menu changes are live immediately. New prices, titles, and hidden products are visible to guests as soon as ChatGPT saves them.
- Website edits stay in draft until you, or ChatGPT on your request, publish the website.
- Allergens and additives are a legal declaration to your guests, and you remain responsible for them. ChatGPT is instructed to save only what you confirm for each dish and to show you the list first — check it before you agree. Name the exact cereal or nut, for example wheat or hazelnut: "gluten" or "nuts" alone is not accepted.
Permissions
The consent screen lists what ChatGPT may access:
| Permission | What it allows |
|---|---|
| Read menu | Show products, categories, option groups, and allergens |
| Edit menu | Add and change products, categories, prices, availability, and allergens |
| Read orders | Show orders |
| Read reports | Show sales summaries |
| Read website | Show website pages and blocks |
| Edit website | Change website pages and blocks as a draft |
| Publish website | Publish the website so visitors see the changes |
| Stay signed in | Keep the connection without signing in again |
ChatGPT can never do more than your own Menuella account is allowed to do for that restaurant.
Your data
- While you chat, ChatGPT receives the Menuella data it needs to answer you — for example products, sales figures, or orders, including the first and last name on an order. OpenAI's privacy policy applies to your conversation.
- Menuella records which actions ChatGPT took and for which restaurant. It does not store your conversation.
- Read more in the Menuella privacy policy.
